Enjoying mouth-watering local food is easy in the Annapolis Valley. Whatever your food preferences, you'll find them here—from fine dining to food carts, and from Hall's Harbour lobster to farm-fresh produce. Many restaurants build their specialties around fresh local ingredients. Don't forget to visit our world-class wineries, microbreweries, cideries and distilleries.
Farmers' markets
Our weekly farmers' markets are a food lover's dream:
- Wolfville Farmers' Market, with the option to order online through WFM2Go. There's a market store as well.
- Kentville Farmers' Market
- Avon Community Farmers' Market, Windsor
- Annapolis Royal Farmers' and Traders Market
- North Mountain Market, Harbourville
- Hants County Exhibition (Thursday Market), Windsor
Commercial farm markets, open daily, dot the landscape. They feature not only their own fruit, vegetables and baking but also a wide selection of goods from local producers and artisans. In the fall season, several of them offer family activities such as apple u-picks, pumpkin-decorating contests, and even elaborate corn mazes.
Restaurants
A café breakfast with locally roasted, fair trade coffee and warm-from-the-oven blueberry muffins. A quick bite of lunch—maybe a savoury crepe or a lobster roll? Or an evening of fine dining on locally raised beef, pork or chicken. The Annapolis Valley has it all including many vegetarian options, and our fresh-caught seafood is outstanding.

Several of our vineyards have award-winning indoor and outdoor restaurants. Be sure to try the European-style Le Caveau at Domaine de Grand Pré, Crush Pad Bistro at Luckett Vineyards with its spectacular view, and the open-air restaurant at Lightfoot and Wolfville.
Wineries
The Annapolis Valley is the centre of Atlantic Canada's wine region, and our wines win national and international awards. In 2010, Nova Scotia launched its own wine appellation. Known as Tidal Bay, the appellation showcases a vibrant and refreshing white wine compatible with our coastal terroir along the Bay of Fundy.
We have 12 wineries in the eastern end of the Valley, most near Wolfville, and 3 in the west near Bear River. Our climate and soil conditions favour crisp whites and satisfying reds. We're growing an international reputation for traditional-method sparkling wines that compare favourably with those of the Champagne region of France. The Wolfville Magic Winery Bus takes you on a double-decker hop-on, hop-off excursion to visit five local wineries.
Microbreweries, cideries and distilleries
