The Annapolis Valley is all about balance. Living and working here can be the way you've always wanted to live.
No traffic jams
No rush hour. OK, now and then we have rush minutes, but you'll never spend hours sitting in traffic. Drivers tend to be courteous.
Outdoor fun for four seasons
The Annapolis Valley provides an abundance of outdoor activities. Camp in our beautiful parks, go whale watching close by, hike, cycle our incredible trails, kayak and canoe, golf, sightsee, swim, go boating, ski, skate, snowshoe—the possibilities are waiting for you.
Close to vibrant city life
The Annapolis Valley is within easy reach of Nova Scotia's international airport and its capital city, Halifax, a major seaport and the largest city in Atlantic Canada.
Halifax is laid-back and vibrant. The city offers restaurants, patio dining, a world-class library, great shopping, medical facilities including the IWK Children's Hospital, universities, Symphony Nova Scotia, Neptune Theatre, festivals, arts and culture events, lively nightlife, Historic Properties on the waterfront, plus Halifax beaches and wilderness areas to hike and explore.
Halifax has been named one of the Top 5 Cities In Canada by Travel and Leisure Magazine. Readers highlighted its friendly people, great small-town vibe, and closeness to the Bay of Fundy. We're not surprised. You won't be either.
Safe and friendly
A strong sense of community and a thriving volunteer sector help to make our communities safe and friendly.
In a recent Nova Scotia Quality of Life Survey, more than 80% of Annapolis Valley respondents said they felt safe to very safe walking alone in their neighbourhood after dark.
When respondents were asked whether people were sociable where they live, more than 75% of those in the Annapolis Valley agreed, strongly agreed or very strongly agreed they were.
And more than half of Valley residents volunteer—more than the provincial or national averages.
