Did you know that Canada has the highest proportion of college graduates among OECD countries? And that the Atlantic provinces have the highest proportion of college graduates aged 25 to 64 within Canada?
Nova Scotia is considered the education destination of Canada. With 10 universities and even more community college campuses, we believe our educational system is second to none.
The Annapolis Valley is home to one of Canada's top universities and three innovative community college campuses. Here businesses can access resources in applied research and customized training, but also where businesses can draw from a talent pipeline of highly educated students.
Acadia University
Acadia University is ranked the #1 undergraduate university in Nova Scotia, with over 200 degree options. Founded in 1838, Acadia is one of the oldest and most respected liberal arts universities in Canada. Its small size—enrolment is about 3,500 students—means students get individual attention. Acadia and its beautiful campus are an integral part of the college town of Wolfville. Acadia is also home to the renowned K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre and the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens
Nova Scotia Community College
Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) provides Nova Scotians with inclusive and flexible access to education and specialized training. NSCC operates 14 campuses throughout Nova Scotia. Two of them are in the Annapolis Valley at three sites:
- Annapolis Valley Campus, Middleton, provides a range of programs. It is home to the Applied Research Group and Pilikan House, a living lab and demonstration site for energy efficiency and sustainable design.
- The Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS), Lawrencetown, is Canada's largest geomatics-focused learning environment. COGS has an international reputation for offering high-quality education in the fields of surveying, geographic information systems (GIS), land-use planning, remote sensing and mapping.
- Kingstec Campus, Kentville, provides its many programs in a bright, modern learning environment. Kingstec Campus has Atlantic Canada's first and only commercial teaching winery facilities.
