The ultimate purpose of emergency management is to save lives, preserve the environment, and protect property and the economy. The protection of life is of paramount importance.

Remember in emergency situation to call 9-1-1.

Nova Scotia Emergency Management Office (EMO)

Nova Scotia's Emergency Management Office (EMO)  is responsible for emergency planning and coordinating emergency responses. The office works with municipal authorities to help plan for emergencies, coordinate provincial resources when there is an emergency and help with analysis and evaluation after an emergency. They also administer the provincial emergency 911 service.

EMO has many resources to help with emergency and disaster preparedness including emergency kit checklist, power outage safety tips and the emergency alert system.

We acknowledge that we are in Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq People.  This territory is covered by the "Treaties of Peace and Friendship" which Mi'kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) People first signed with the British Crown in 1725.  The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized Mi'kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.

We also acknowledge that people of African descent have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years, and we honour and offer gratitude to those ancestors of African descent who came before us to this land.
