Welcome to Annapolis Royal. In 2004, this community of about 500 residents was named the most liveable small town in the world. In an international competition sponsored by the United Nations Environment Program, the Town was chosen for the beauty of its landscape and for its attention to local heritage and the environment.
Annapolis Royal is a beautiful waterfront community at the western end of the Annapolis Valley. Originally inhabited by the Mi'kmaq, the area became home to some of North America's earliest European settlers in 1605.

History and culture
Annapolis Royal is the site of Canada's oldest National Historic Site, Fort Anne. The Town has about 135 registered heritage properties. Its beautiful streetscape has been designated a National Historic District.
Over the years, Annapolis Royal has become a magnet for visual artists, craftspeople, performers and writers. It is also a community where volunteerism thrives. The year-round King's Theatre offers live music, theatre productions, a dance festival and movies.
Historic Gardens
A jewel in the Town is the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens. The 17 acres of these gardens are superb. They showcase gardening methods, designs and materials that represent more than 400 years of local history.
Waterfront amphitheatre
The Oqwa'titek Amphitheatre was finished in 2017 and is a hub of activity. its picturesque waterfront location provides seating for approximately 140 people and has hosted events such as concerts, weddings, and Tai Chi.
