Communities
The Municipality of the County of Annapolis has many small communities. Two of particular note are Bridgetown and Lawrencetown:
Bridgetown |
The Community of Bridgetown is known for its beautiful Victorian homes. For more than a century, Bridgetown's population has remained stable at about 1,000 residents. As a result, the community has retained much of its historic character. Bridgetown's largest employers are the schools, Mountain Lea Lodge, and the Meadows Community. |
Lawrencetown |
The picturesque Village of Lawrencetown is primarily a rural farming community. Its current population is about 600. The village is home to the Annapolis Valley Exhibition and Nova Scotia Community College's Centre of Geographic Sciences, which specializes in geomatics, engineering and surveying. Located halfway between the urban centres of Halifax and Yarmouth (169 kilometres / 105 miles), Lawrencetown gives its residents easy access to the commercial opportunities of larger centres while they can enjoy country life at home. |
