On the north bank of the Annapolis River, in the centre of the Annapolis Valley, lies the Town of Middleton. Known as the Heart of the Valley, Middleton is a community that values diversity, opportunity and partnership. It is a regional centre for business, education, health and recreation. It is also a retail hub.

More than 70% of Middleton's population of about 1,800 have a post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree. Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) Annapolis Valley Campus in Middleton provides a range of programs. The campus is home to the Applied Research Group and Pilikan House, a living lab and demonstration site for energy efficiency and sustainable design.

Middleton combines affordable housing with a strong labour force and a robust local economy. Its many beautiful homes, including heritage homes dating back to the 1800s, are well kept and affordably priced. Generations of families have lived and done business here. Today this is a thriving community of old and new residents, young families and seniors.

Local community and economic-development programs provide a range of active-living recreation and business experiences. Numerous special events take place year-round. It has a wide choice of community groups to match your interests.

Attractions and recreation

Middleton's attractions are many. Its town clock is a rare water clock. Its museums include a railway museum. One of its churches was built in the 1700s. It even has a protected roosting site for endangered chimney swifts.

Middleton's parks and outdoor recreation facilities provide playgrounds and sports fields for the whole family. The Town also has an arena, a curling club, and an outdoor swimming pool.

Centennial Park is a small, peaceful picnic area in downtown Middleton. Riverside Park is a seven-acre public park along the banks of the Annapolis River. It offers a scenic walking path and easy access to the water for your canoe.

We acknowledge that we are in Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq People.  This territory is covered by the "Treaties of Peace and Friendship" which Mi'kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) People first signed with the British Crown in 1725.  The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized Mi'kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
