Orchards, vineyards and the highest tides in the world. A stable business community that buzzes with innovation.

In the northeastern part of the Annapolis Valley, life in Kings County is enriched by its natural beauty, agricultural abundance, friendly people, and thriving educational and artistic communities. Acadia University in Wolfville and the Nova Scotia Community College Kingstec Campus in Kentville attract talent and diversity from all over the world. Kings County offers galleries, live theatre, cinema, and historic and cultural sites, including the Landscape of Grand Pré UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Within the county, Annapolis Valley First Nation and Glooscap First Nation, plus the Towns of Berwick, Kentville and Wolfville, are governed independently. Everywhere else is governed by the Municipality of the County of Kings.

Its more than 60,000 residents make Kings County a vibrant space that combines urban vitality with room to breathe.

Major employers include 14 Wing Greenwood, the largest airbase on Canada's East Coast; international tire manufacturer Michelin Tire Inc.; Acadia University; and Nova Scotia Community College. More than 70% of Nova Scotia's wineries are located here.

A blend of town and country

Kings County is Nova Scotia's agricultural heartland. Many farm families have been here for generations. They are skilled, innovative entrepreneurs who bring you farm-to-fork deliciousness. But here, rural definitely does not mean sleepy. High-speed internet connects most parts of the county to the world. The Annapolis Valley's Research and Development communities are anchored here.

Visit a restaurant or stroll through a farmers' market to enjoy local food at its peak (it may have been picked or caught that morning). Raise a glass from one of our award-winning wineries or craft breweries as you take in breathtaking views.

Does grabbing your camera and heading outdoors appeal to you? Kings County is a birders' paradise, home to bald eagles, many other raptors, and countless migrating shore birds. They'll take your breath away.

Come experience our culture, vineyards and shores. From festivals to beaches, markets to trails, Kings County will draw you here. You may never want to leave.

We acknowledge that we are in Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq People.  This territory is covered by the "Treaties of Peace and Friendship" which Mi'kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) People first signed with the British Crown in 1725.  The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized Mi'kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.

We also acknowledge that people of African descent have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years, and we honour and offer gratitude to those ancestors of African descent who came before us to this land.
